Waterfall
My still life and self-portrait is representing my ideal lifestyle, which is to live with nature. In this picture, I put myself under the waterfalls, holding a rose. I’m looking at myself in the mirror and my mouth is slightly up, seeming like I’m enjoying the beauties of nature in my dreamland. The mirror under me also reveals the beauty of the water, which is shining in the white shirts with different colors as though it’s gleaming. On my face, the falling water is like a watermark. The stream from the waterfall is slowly flowing on my face and clothes. It is a little bit blurry but still clear. This picture is just like a dream. When I’m awake, I try to recollect it. I realize it was a dream that is a little bit vague but still as if it has truly existed.
Snow White 2020
When we are little kids, we’ve all heard the beautiful fairy tale of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs from Disney. In our memory, Snow White and the seven dwarfs live an ordinary life. Disney doesn't give much information about Snow White’s and dwarfs’ personality. Now in my work, I want to reinterpret the story of snow white and seven dwarfs and even redefine the “princess”. Since the economy develops so rapidly in this age, snow white’s life has also changed. She starts a shopping spree and is influenced by the marketing strategy of many luxury brands on Black Friday. When she stands in front of the seven dwarfs with all the shopping bags, the seven dwarfs have many different reactions based on their different personalities. In this story, I give my main characters their own unique characteristic to make the whole story closer to our life and more interesting and vivid.
