Abstraction
"Hope" is the thing with feathers
By Emily Dickinson
“Hope” is the thing with feathers -
That perches in the soul -
And sings the tune without the words -
And never stops - at all -
And sweetest - in the Gale - is heard -
And sore must be the storm -
That could abash the little Bird
That kept so many warm -
I’ve heard it in the chillest land -
And on the strangest Sea -
Yet - never - in Extremity,
It asked a crumb - of me.
In this abstraction video, I use a flower and a candle to show “Hope”. The “strong-willed bird that lives within the human soul—and sings its song no matter what” in the poem really inspired me. So I use a burning flower to show that burning a flower never falls no matter what happens. Also, I use the pattern of continuously switching between focusing and non-focusing to show that the “hope” in people’s life sometimes comes and sometimes goes. And I’ve composed two different ambient music and added different instruments to show the mixed feeling while I read this poem and made this short film.
